Poison House Rules
The following are some house rules on the use of poison in Athas. See here for Pathfinder’s rules on poisons and some example poisons. See here for a good guide on using poisons in D&D 3.5 (note that pathfinder and house rules take precedent, so some of the advice is outdated).
- Spells, powers, and other effects which create inanimate matter (such as poisons), continue to function as they did in 3.5 except that they always either have a limited duration or they require defiling of the environment to enable. There’s no “something for nothing” in Athas.
- Spells such as Minor Creation and similar effects that allow a character to make a craft check to produce poison still risk poisoning themselves as though they crafted it normally (see pathfinder rules). This is a form of magic feedback.
